Manoj Tiwary On Rohit Sharma: Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary blasted out at India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate over his recent remarks on Rohit Sharma’s ongoing form against New Zealand. Ten Doeschate stated that Rohit was short on game time in the home ODI series, after his scores of 26 and 24 in the first two matches.

However, Rohit made his comeback with a bang in international cricket in October, smashing a fifty and a hundred in the ODI series against Australia, winning the Player of the Series award, before playing the home series against South Africa. As of now the 38-year-old has failed to impress in the ongoing series against New Zealand.

As of now in the ongoing series, the series is leveled up after New Zealand won the second ODI. The comments from Ryan ten Doeschate came after this loss in the second ODI, despite Rohit featuring in Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy matches last month, in which he smashed a century in the very first match.

In a recent interview Manoj Tiwary stated,

“With a lot of respect, I would like to tell Ryan ten Doeschate that he was with me for four years at KKR. No doubt he is a very good person, but the kind of comment he has made, I think he should have thought about it. He has also played international cricket for the Netherlands, but if you look at his international record—I say this with all due respect—it is not even 5% of what Rohit has achieved in his career, not just as a batter but also as a captain.”

Ryan ten Doeschate must not make such comments

Further, Tiwary stated the comments of Ten Doeschate were demoralizing, especially coming from a member of the support staff, and urged the coach to focus on his words before speaking.

He said,

“He has given the nation so much happiness by winning the Champions Trophy also, and after that, talking like this—and that too when he is in the team, not like he is sitting at home and commenting—he is a part of the management, and talking like this about your player is demoralizing. I don’t know why he said that. He has to reflect on this. I feel he must not make such comments.”

Now, India will be playing the final ODI against New Zealand on January 18 in Indore. It will be interesting to see whether India will be able to clinch the series to their name or not.
