KL Rahul Crisis Man: Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has all praise for KL Rahul, stating him as the crisis man for the Indian Cricket team in modern day time. While analyzing India’s loss against New Zealand in the second ODI at Rajkot, he hailed Rahul’s unbeaten century when the Indian batting order collapsed at the Niranjan Shah Stadium on Wednesday.

Pathan highlighted Rahul’s ability to understand the game, experience, and the way he absorbs the pressure in crucial times. Rahul made the innings well, ensuring a good partnership with Ravindra Jadeja. He did a 73-run stand partnership with Jadeja before he was dismissed. After that, he added 57 runs with Nitish Kumar Reddy and ensured that India got to a decent score after the collapse.

Irfan Pathan, speaking on his YouTube channel, stated,

“No amount of praise is enough for KL Rahul. He batted at No. 5 and No. 6. He is a versatile player, and modern-day cricket rarely has such a player. Rahul opens in Test cricket and bats down the order in ODIs. Rahul is at a stage where he has an opportunity to refine his game, and his average is above 50. His strike rate used to be about 85, and it has surged to above 90. Despite the fall of wickets, Rahul was rotating the strike. Ravindra Jadeja struggled to do it, but Rahul still had a strike rate of 91 against spinners.”

Further, Pathan credited Rahul’s game and called him India’s ‘Sankat Mochan’ (Crisis Man).

He said,

“He has a range of shots—plays sweep and does well on back foot and front foot. He has all the shots, even against the fast bowlers. He is using his experience exceptionally well. I call him ‘Sankat mochan,’ and he has justified that tag.”

From the New Zealand side, Daryl Mitchell played an iconic knock of 131 runs and was named the Player of the Match. The second ODI was won by the Kiwis by a margin of 7 wickets.
