Kapil Dev stated that Pakistan’s call to boycott the February 15 game against India will damage their reputation and harm their own players, especially youngsters aspiring to play in the World Cup. In a recent interview, the 1983 World Cup-winning captain talked about the decisions that will have long-term consequences on players.

Kapil Dev said,

“If the decision was taken by the players, they can come out and say so. But when the board decides that you will not play, the reputation of the country comes down. It is not looking bright for Pakistan. You are killing the generation. Pakistan has given us fantastic talents over the years, but if you don’t allow these boys to play the World Cup, you are hurting the game and being unfair to your own players.”

On Sunday Pakistan announced that they will be playing the T20 World Cup 2026 but will not play against India in Colombo. This decision came after the ICC rejected Bangladesh’s request to move their World Cup games out of India due to security reasons, after which they were replaced by Scotland in the tournament.

Further, Kapil Dev said,

“Emotions and spectators will be impacted, but in the long run, no one will miss them. People will move on.”

Now, it has to be seen whether Pakistan will come to the field to play against India on February 15 or not.
