Kane Williamson To Miss NZ vs WI ODIs: The former New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson missed out on the squad of the national team after the ODI squad was announced for the three-match series against the West Indies at home commencing on November 16.

Just a few days ago, Kane Williamson announced his retirement from the T20Is and now has missed the ODI series against the West Indies, whose first match will be played in Christchurch on November 16. It is being stated that his main focus is on the upcoming ICC World Test Championship series against the Caribbea side, which will start next month.
In the upcoming three-match ODI series, the in-form all-rounder Mitchell Santner will once again be captaining the side, and Matt Henry, the key pacer of New Zealand, will be making his return. The Kiwis will be looking forward to continuing the momentum they received from their recent ODI series win against England.

It is to be noted that Kane Williamson is New Zealand’s leading ODI run scorer with 7256 runs at an average of 48.70. He has made it clear that his focus remains on contributing in the format where he can give his best both physically and mentally. This is the key reason he has decided to sit out of the series.
Blair Tickner Made It To the ODI Squad
Amid all these things, the pacer Blair Tickner retained his place in the 14-player squad after he made some good efforts in the series against England.
Talking about this, New Zealand coach Rob Walter praised Tickner’s recent performances and believes that he deserved the place in the squad.
Rob Walter said,

“We couldn’t have asked for more from Ticks against England. He brought plenty of energy, and his pace and bounce proved to be a big test for some of the best batters in the world. It was pleasing to see him come in at short notice and perform at that level, and that’s a testament to the hard work he’s been putting in away from the group.”
“It’s awesome to be able to keep rewarding guys who work hard and perform when they get the opportunity, and we know he’ll be a big asset for us in another important series.”
Further, Walter also talked about the battles they might face against the West Indies.
He said,
“The West Indies are always dangerous and have a host of players who can change a game in any format. It’s another important series for us as we continue to grow and improve in the format, so we’re looking forward to what’s to come.”
