Joe Root Century: Just a few months back Joe Root was waiting for his maiden Ashes century down under against Australia but didn’t have to wait for his second century. Root smashed his 41st century on Day 2 of the fifth and final test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Monday.
Joe Root Century

If we take a look at the ongoing Ashes 2025 series, then Ben Stokes’s led team has already lost the series, but Joe Root is taking no name to get stopped. With this century in the fifth test, Root has now become the joint third-highest test centurion alongside Ricky Ponting.
There are only two players ahead of Joe Root in the record of most Test centuries, which are Sachin Tendulkar and Jacques Kallis. Root smashed his 41st test century in the 163rd game, while Ponting did the same in 168 games, scoring 13,378 runs, and finished his career.

The 35-year-old surpassed the record of Ponting in tests and is even ahead of Kumar Sangakkara in the list of men with the most runs in test cricket. However, Sachin Tendulkar has 51 centuries to his name, and Sangakkara has 45.
Joe Root is now less than 2000 runs away from Sachin’s record, and if he is successful in doing this in coming years, then he will also become the player with the most runs in the longest format.

The England batting lineup showed some class in the fifth test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). In the fifth test, Root made a 169-run partnership with the fourth wicket, Harry Brook, but later Brook was dismissed for 84 runs by Scott Boland, missing his century.
