Jemimah Rodrigues Emotional: Young Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues played one of the greatest knocks of her cricketing career in the Women’s ODI World Cup semi-final against Australia. Jemimah scored an unbeaten 127-run knock off 134 balls, which played a very crucial role in India’s win of chasing a large total of 339 runs against the defending champions, Australia.
The knock was so special for Jemimah that she couldn’t control her tears after winning the game, even when her teammates came to console her.
“Was Going Through A Lot Of Anxiety”: Jemimah Rodrigues Emotional

For this iconic performance of hers, Jemimah was named Player of the Match, and during the post-match presentation, she opened up on her battle with anxiety and how her teammates supported her in these difficult times.
She said,
“I’ll be very vulnerable here because I know if someone is watching this, they might be going through the same thing. And that’s my whole purpose of saying it because nobody likes to talk about their weakness. I was going through a lot of anxiety at the start of the tournament, and it was a lot before a few games also. I used to call my mom and cry.”
“Used To Cry The Entire Time”: Jemimah Rodrigues

Further, Jemimah also talked about how her parents supported her constantly when she used to feel numb due to pressure and anxiety. She also mentioned her teammate Arundhati Reddy, who was with her in difficult times.
She said,
“Cry the entire time; let it all out, because when you’re going through anxiety, you just feel numb. You don’t know what to do. You’re trying to be yourself. And also in this time, my mom and my dad supported me a lot. And also, there was Arundhati, who I think almost every day I’ve cried in front of—almost every day I’ve cried in front of her. Later I was joking; I said, “If you don’t come in front of me, I’ll start crying.” But she checked on me every single day.”
Jemimah Rodrigues Dropped From The Team

We all know that Jemimah did not get the ideal start in the tournament, which even led to her being dropped from the team against England. However, she made her comeback against New Zealand, and now against Australia in the semi-finals, she played a tremendous knock.
The Indian management showed faith in her against the semifinal, where she shared a crucial partnership of 167 runs for the third wicket with Captain Harmanpreet Kaur.
Further, Jemimah Rodrigues said,
“I was dropped from the team. That really hit me. And, when you’re dropped, you have a lot of doubts because I always want to contribute to the team. But that day I couldn’t do much sitting out. And then when you come back in, there’s a lot more pressure with everything that was happening in the past month.”
“But sometimes all you need to do is just hang in there and things fall into place. So, I think, yeah, so I’m very grateful for the people who believed in me when I couldn’t and were there for me and understood me because I couldn’t do this on my own.”
