Jasprit Bumrah on IND vs WI: The Indian team’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah praised Shivam Dube’s twin boundaries that came in death overs in a close chase against West Indies in the T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 clash. The all-rounder’s eight runs helped Sanju Samson in his 97-run unbeaten knock at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, March 1.
Shivam Dube came to the field at the end of the game after Hardik Pandya’s dismissal. At the end, India still needed 17 runs off 10 balls. Dube reduced the pressure from Samson from the very first ball with his hitting.

At that point in time, India only needed seven runs to win off the last over, which Sanju Samson did for the team ahead of the remaining four balls. To this, now Jasprit Bumrah highlighted that not many noticed Dube’s contribution since it was a do-or-die match.
Jasprit Bumrah said,

“You know, obviously, the two fours that Dube hit are in the cricketing books and stats; nobody will really appreciate that, but the people who really know cricket, the two fours really didn’t set the pressure on us because sometimes 8-9 runs in the last over can get tricky sometimes.”
Jasprit Bumrah Crucial Role Against West Indies

Talking about Jasprit Bumrah’s performance, he also played a crucial role in the game as he finished with the figures of 2-36 off four overs. He dismissed Shimron Hetmyer and Roston Chase in a single over to end the West Indies’ time with the bat.
Further, he said,
“The wicket was holding up, so we wanted to use our variation; we did not want to bowl too fast because that was an easy option. Hit our back of length, use our change of pace, so we wanted to make run-scoring as difficult as possible, and today was a good day where I got some wickets.”
After this crucial win, India has now entered the semifinals, where they will be clashing against England on March 5, at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
