IPL 2026 Auction: The preparations for the IPL 2026 have already begun, and now important information regarding the auction has officially come. According to a recent report, the Indian Premier League 2026 auction will be held in the second or third week of December this year. It is being reported that the auction can be held between December 13th and 15th.

All franchises have the deadline to retain players until November 15th. Now, all eyes are on where the IPL 2026 auction will be held and what changes could be seen in the squads of every franchise. The IPL 2023 auction was held in Dubai, whereas the IPL 2024 auction was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

It will be interesting to see whether the BCCI will be hosting the auction in India or again abroad, as it has done in the last 2 years, or whether it will host this mini-auction in India after three years. Sources indicate that the BCCI is more likely to hold the auction in India this time, but a final decision is still pending. Reports suggest that some teams might go through some major changes before IPL 2026. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are particularly considering making significant changes to their squads.

The potential list of players to be released from the Chennai team includes the names of Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tripathi, Sam Curran, and Devon Conway. Meanwhile, after Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirement, Chennai has a significant amount of money left in their purse, allowing them to invest heavily in new players at the auction.

Rajasthan Royals are all set for some major changes before the IPL 2026. According to reports, the team may release spinners like Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana. Furthermore, there are also reports that RR skipper Sanju Samson will not be part of the team next season, which could prove to be a major blow to the team. Both teams finished at the bottom of the points table last season, so a change in their team combination is expected.

All IPL franchises must submit their list of retained players by November 15th. Only after this date will it be decided which players will be retained and which will go into the auction pool. This will be a mini auction, in which teams will have the opportunity to bid for players according to the remaining funds in their purse.
