Virat Kohli scored 89 runs against the West Indies in the semi-finals of the 2016 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Now, Samson has equaled that record by scoring the same score against England.

Not only this, Samson broke another major record in this tournament. He also surpassed Rohit Sharma’s record of hitting the most sixes in a single T20 World Cup season.

Samson now has 16 sixes in the 2026 T20 World Cup, while Rohit Sharma hit 15 sixes in 2024. Shivam Dubey, Ishan Kishan, and Hardik Pandya are also batting brilliantly in this list.

India’s innings didn’t run solely on Samson’s strength. The rest of the team’s batsmen also scored quickly and helped the score cross 250. Shivam Dube played a quick innings of 43 runs and maintained the run rate in the middle overs. Ishan Kishan gave the team a strong start by scoring 39 runs.

Hardik Pandya scored 27 runs, and Tilak Varma scored 21 runs and added runs quickly in the last overs. With the help of all these batsmen, India made a big score of 253 runs by losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.

Will Jacks and Adil Rashid took two wickets each for England, but the English bowlers could not make much impact in front of the attack of Indian batsmen.

Talking about India’s bowling, it was seen struggling a bit but made it to the finals as they stopped the opposition team at 246/7 and won the game.

Now, the Men in Blue will be facing the New Zealand on March 8, Sunday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
