IND vs AUS T20I: The fifth and final match between India and Australia has been called off due to heavy rains at the Gabba on November 8, Saturday. With this, India clinched the five-match series by a margin of 2-1.

The Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first, inviting the Suryakumar Yadav-led team to bat first. Due to rain the match was abandoned after 4.5 overs; India made the score of 52 runs without losing a single wicket. India had previously won the third and fourth matches after losing the second match of the series. The first T20I was also abandoned due to rain. By this, the Suryakumar Yadav team won the series 2-1, continuing Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten record as a T20I captain.

When the game stopped, the Indian team openers Shubman Gill (29*) and Abhishek Sharma (23*) remained unbeaten on the field.

During today’s match Abhishek Sharma achieved the milestone of 1000 runs, becoming the fastest to do so in terms of balls faced. By this he surpassed the record of his captain Suryakumar Yadav to reach the 1000 T20I runs among full member nations, reaching the milestone in 528 balls.

Abhishek Sharma has played 29 T20I matches, scoring 1,012 runs at an average of 37.48 and a strike rate of 189.51, having a highest score of 135, including two centuries and six half centuries.

With this series victory against Australia, India’s record in T20I under Gautam Gambhir continues.
