Harmanpreet Kaur: The iconic rivalry between India and Pakistan is not coming to an end; after the Men’s Asia Cup 2025, it was seen in the Women’s ODI World Cup. Another Sunday, another great clash between the archrivals on Sunday, and once again Pakistan has to face the defeat, but this time it was the women’s team.
Harmanpreet Kaur On The Victory vs Pakistan

An exciting clash was witnessed by both sides of fans on October 5, Sunday, between India and Pakistan, in which Pakistan had to face a crushing defeat, after which Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur said that this victory started with their bowling. In the Women’s World Cup 2025, India won the game against Pakistan by 88 runs at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka. After losing the toss, India batted first on a difficult pitch and scored 247 runs. After this, the bowlers bundled out Pakistan for just 159 runs in 43 overs. Kranti Gaud and Deepti Sharma took three important wickets each in this success.
Harmanpreet Kaur, after the match, said,
“Very happy, very important game for all of us, and I’m sure everyone back home is happy as well.”
Further, she added,
“Kranti bowled brilliantly; she was really amazing, and Renuka helped her get the breakthroughs. We had many chances, missed some, but winning makes everything feel right.”
Harmanpreet Kaur Opens Up On Captaincy

Harmanpreet admitted that batting wasn’t easy. The pitch was swaying, and the surface had grip due to rain. She said,
“We wanted to bat longer and see how many runs we could score. It was important to keep wickets in hand. Richa Ghosh played a good innings and gave our innings the respect it deserved by scoring the required 25 runs.”
IND vs PAK: India Tops Points Table After 12th Win Over Pakistan

With this victory, India registered its 12th win against Pakistan in Women’s ODIs and moved to the top of the points table. Harmanpreet stated that the team now wants to maintain the momentum. The next match is against South Africa in Visakhapatnam on October 9th, followed by Australia on October 12th. She said,
“There are many areas to improve, but we are happy with the win. Now we have to return to India, familiarize ourselves with the pitches, and figure out the team combination.”
Kranti Gaud, who took a brilliant 3-20, dedicated her victory to her village, Gwara (Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh). She said,
“It feels great. This is for the people of my village.” She explained that people in the village were watching the match on a large LED screen during the match. “Didi (Harman) said to remove one slip because the ball was old, but I said to keep it. I followed the simple things my coach told me.”
IND vs PAK: Fatima Sana On Loss Against India

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana admitted that her team leaked too many runs in the powerplay and death overs. She said,
“We gave away too many runs in the power play, even extras. The same was true in the death overs. We should have restricted India to below 200.”
She told the team that they had included some specialist batsmen in the top five, and they would have to prove themselves. “Long partnerships are important, and we should assess the situation. Sidra Amin scored an excellent 81. She is hardworking, and hopefully she will continue to do well in the future.”
Thus, Team India not only started this match with the ball and strategy but also won with dominance. The team will have to maintain the same enthusiasm and balance in the upcoming matches.
