Droupadi Murmu Met Winners: The Indian Women’s Cricket Team, after winning the ODI World Cup 2025, met President of India Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday, November 6. The Champions Team was congratulated by the president and was appreciated for their iconic historic win in the final against South Africa. Millions of fans from each and every corner of the country are still celebrating the victory that was achieved by the Women’s team on November 2, Sunday.
Droupadi Murmu Met Winners
The Indian women defeated South Africa in the ODI World Cup 2025 final, which was played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, where they were successful in defending the score of 298 runs. This is the first ever win by a women’s team in the history of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team.
Deepti Sharma Thanks President Droupadi Murmu
The Indian Women star all-rounder Deepti Sharma thanked the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, for inviting the whole team. Talking about this, she said,
“I would like to thank you for calling us. We started well, but then we lost a few matches in between. The best part about this team was our unity, even when we were losing. The best part was that BCCI gave us different venues to play.”
Further, she added,
“The WPL has helped us improve a lot; the young talents have got a platform, and we have learned a lot from that. Women’s cricket has grown immensely from that, so we would just look to do good and bring glory to the nation.”
If we take a look at Deepti Sharma’s performance in the final, then she was named Player of the Tournament. She finished as the highest wicket taker and smashed a half century in the final, taking 5 wickets alone.
Before meeting the President of India, the Indian Women’s Team met Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on November 5, Wednesday. The Indian Women team arrived in Delhi at 4 p.m. and went directly to the Prime Minister’s residence at 7 p.m., Lok Kalyan Marg. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur was present with the 2025 World Cup trophy. Coach Amol Mazumdar, the new BCCI President Mithun Manhas, and all 16 players were present to meet PM Narendra Modi.
