BCCI Meeting: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held an important review meeting regarding the functioning of its Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. This high-level meeting took place in Mumbai on Friday and was attended by several senior board officials. The meeting involved serious discussions on the current status of the CoE, future plans, and pending recruitments, and some major decisions were also taken.
BCCI Meeting With VVS Laxman

The meeting was attended by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, President Mithun Manhas, Vice President Rajeev Shukla, and Head of Cricket at the Center of Excellence, VVS Laxman. The board’s focus was specifically on the CoE’s operations, preparation, and strengthening it further in the future.
After the meeting, Devajit Saikia told an agency that the Center of Excellence has been fully operational since April last year, but some crucial technical positions are still vacant. These include important positions such as Head of Education and Head of Sports Science. The board has decided to expedite the recruitment process for these positions to ensure there are no shortcomings in the training and development of players.
Recruitment for Key Positions Soon

Saikia also said that there is a shortage of quality technical staff worldwide, but despite this, the BCCI will try to fill these positions as soon as possible. The matches and activities currently underway at the CoE were also reviewed. Currently, matches are being played on three grounds there, including Vijay Hazare Trophy matches.
The meeting also discussed the future tours of the India A and India Under-19 teams. The board believes that sometimes the tours of the A team and the senior team coincide, which creates difficulties in planning. Therefore, it will be ensured that the A team tours are scheduled more effectively in the future, as these tours are crucial for future cricketers.

It is worth noting that the foundation stone for the BCCI Center of Excellence was laid in February 2022. This facility is incredibly high-tech, boasting three international-standard cricket grounds, a state-of-the-art 16,000-square-foot gym, four athletic tracks, and a 25-meter swimming pool. It also includes recovery amenities such as a jacuzzi, sauna, steam bath, underwater pool spa, physiotherapy and rehabilitation gym, and sports science and medical labs. This is why the BCCI considers it the most important center for shaping the future of Indian cricket.
