The role of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has now become crucial in this entire matter. According to the report, the ICC has set a deadline for Bangladesh’s participation in the T20 World Cup 2026. If Bangladesh does not make a final decision by the given time, the ICC will make the decision itself. It is being reported that in a meeting held in Dhaka on January 17, the ICC made it clear to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) that a final decision on this matter would be taken on January 21.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had also shown considerable interest in the Bangladesh issue. On January 11, Pakistan had indicated that if Bangladesh did not go to India due to security reasons, it would be ready to host their matches. However, PCB sources later clarified that this offer was not formal and was only applicable if stadiums were not available in Sri Lanka.

PCB sources also stated that all major stadiums in Pakistan are fully prepared to host a major tournament like the T20 World Cup. They also cited the successful hosting of international events such as the Champions Trophy 2025 and the ICC Women’s Qualifiers in support of this claim. Currently, the situation suggests that the participation of both Bangladesh and Pakistan is in question. All eyes are now on the ICC’s final decision, which will determine who plays and who sits out of the T20 World Cup 2026.
