Babar Azam Ruled Out: Babar Azam, who is considered a star in Pakistan Cricket, didn’t receive the same welcome in Australia. After having such a horrific season in the Big Bash League 2026 for the Sydney Sixers. Babar Azam is now ruled out of the BBL 2026 finals against the Hobart Hurricanes. After getting ruled out of the campaign, the batter is set to join the Pakistan training camp.
Babar Azam Ruled Out

A post shared by the Sydney Sixers on their social media account states,
“Babar Azam has been recalled to join Pakistan’s national camp ahead of upcoming international fixtures. He will be unavailable for the remainder of the BBL 15 final series.”
The Pakistan star batter playing for the Sydney Sixers has scored 202 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 103. Reaching this stage, the stats didn’t look good enough.
Mark Waugh Bashes Babar Azam Poor Form

Former Australian great Mark Waugh had stated that Babar should be dropped from the team if the team needs to win the season.
He said,
“I think a bit of tough love; they need to rejiggle their batting. Because at the moment, we are almost totally relying on Steve Smith. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to drop Babar Azam.”
“I don’t think he’s done enough at the top of the order. I know he’s world-class, but the thing is about winning this tournament, and so far he just hasn’t done it. I’m thinking about a new opener, so you can either have Moises Henriques open or bring in Daniel Hughes or Jordan Silk—one of those two; that’s what I’m thinking.”

On the other hand, Steve Smith looked in red-hot form, showing his range of shots and incredible knocks, but opening with Babar Azam hasn’t been a good one from the other end.
Smith has smashed 220 runs in this season, having played only four matches so far. The Sixers will be playing against Hobart in the challenger round, and the winner will play the final of Big Bash 15 against the Perth Scorchers.
