Babar Azam Duck: The Pakistan star batter Babar Azam got a chance to prove his worth in the team and lock his place for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. After getting snubbed in the T20I team for the Asia Cup 2025, he finally got the chance but failed to make an impact. The comeback hope turned into a heartbreak on Tuesday, October 28, after he was dismissed for a duck in the first game of the series against South Africa.

Babar Azam made his comeback in the T20I format after December 2024 against South Africa, where he came to bat at No. 3 after Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed. When Babar entered the field, the crowd cheered him at a very large capacity.

In the fifth over, South Africa’s Corbin Bosch bowled a pace-length delivery on off, where Babar Azam wanted to go across the line, but the spell took the thick outer half of the bat and went straight towards Reeza Hendricks at the cover. With that, his knock came to an end after just 2 balls.

After his dismissal, a video went viral on social media where it was seen how devastated Babar Azam looked. The Pakistan team gave a chance to Babar Azam in place of Fakhar Zaman, who was rested for next month’s ODI series against South Africa.

This was the eighth time Babar was dismissed for a duck in T20I cricket, breaking the record of Virat Kohli of 7 ducks.

The Pakistan batter was just nine runs away from surpassing the record of former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma of 4,231 runs in T20I cricket, which he failed to do in the first game.

The next clash between Pakistan and South Africa will take place on October 31, Friday, at the Gaddafi Stadium. Now it will be interesting to see whether Babar Azam will be able to make a comeback in the second T20I or not.
