Arshdeep Singh on Selection: Arshdeep Singh has finally broken silence on the questions surrounding team selection after Gautam Gambhir became the head coach of the Indian team. When asked about constantly being in and out of the team, the left-arm pacer smiled and gave a reply that many are interpreting as a subtle dig at Gautam Gambhir.

Arshdeep’s statement makes it clear that despite the uncertainty in selection, his confidence remains unshaken. He also indicated that being dropped from the team has not affected his swing bowling ability. The statistics also support Arshdeep’s claims, with 111 wickets in 73 T20 International matches, making him India’s most successful bowler in this format. Despite this, he has been overlooked several times in recent months in the name of team combination.

In 2025, India played 21 T20I matches, but Arshdeep got a chance in only 13 matches. Even in a major tournament like the Asia Cup, he was left out of the playing XI for most matches. After the victory in the first T20I against New Zealand, Arshdeep said that his job is simply to give his best to the team whenever he gets the chance.

He said,

“Whenever the team gives me the responsibility to bowl with the new or old ball, I will give my best. My focus is only on the things that are in my control.”

Talking about the pitch and conditions, Arshdeep acknowledged that bowling on wickets that are helpful for batsmen is not easy. He said that strategy is most important on such pitches, and if the plan is implemented correctly, the results follow. Overall, Arshdeep Singh, in a lighthearted manner, made it clear that he is not bothered by the selection fluctuations, but his statement certainly left a strong message for the team management and coaching staff.
