Anil Kumble Reaction: Former legendary Indian cricketer Anil Kumble has expressed deep disappointment over India’s complete surrender against South Africa in the two-match test series. This marked the first time in 25 years that India has lost a series at home to the Proteas and the second time that Team India has suffered a clean sweep in a home Test series in consecutive years. Kumble said that the constant changes to the playing XI, alterations in the batting order, and frequent rotations have destroyed the team’s stability.

According to him, Team India must now pause and reflect, as such decisions are poor in the long run.
Brilliant performances from Simon Harmer and Marco Jansen played a key role in South Africa’s victory, resulting in a massive 408-run defeat for India and a 0-2 series loss. Following last year’s 0-3 defeat against New Zealand, this setback further complicates Team India’s path to the World Test Championship.
Anil Kumble Reaction: Lack of Experienced Players & Future Planning

During an interview, Kumble stated that the team’s declining performance isn’t just a result of defeats but rather reflects deeper internal issues. He stated that the vacuum created by the retirement of veterans like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin must be filled with clear thinking and proper planning.
Simply playing a large number of new players at once won’t be effective.
Kumble clearly stated that the team needs a strong core of experienced players to provide the right direction and support to the young players.
He also pointed out that India only managed to hold on in the first innings because a 74-run partnership between Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav helped the team survive 83.5 overs. Although Ravindra Jadeja showed some positive play, the entire team struggled with match conditions.
Anil Kumble on Key Moments of the Match and South Africa Dominance

On the first day, India got off to a slow start at 247/6, but Senuran Muthusamy’s century (109) and Marco Jansen’s quickfire 93 propelled the team to 489. Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets for India, but the batting faltered, and Jansen’s 6/48 bowling saw India collapse for just 201. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sundar tried their best, but the team was stuck around 200.
South Africa did not enforce the follow-on and declared at 260/5, extending their lead to over 500. Jadeja took four wickets, but the team was set a seemingly impossible target of 549.
