Alyssa Healy Retirement: The Australian women’s captain, Alyssa Healy, gave a hint about her career’s end in the ODI World Cup 2025 semi-finals against India at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. This was not the result the defending champions’ team wanted.
It was an action-packed game between India and Australia where the Women in Blue won the game by five wickets. After India’s win, Aussie skipper Alyssa Healy gave a shock to cricket fans when she stated that it was her final ODI World Cup tournament.
“I won’t be there..”: Alyssa Healy Retirement

When Healy was asked if she would be there in the future ODI World Cup or not. She said,
“I won’t be there. That’s the beauty of the next cycle; we’re going to see it unfold. There’s a T20 World Cup in the middle of next year, which is really exciting for our group. But I think our one-day cricket will probably shift a little bit again.”
“We’ll learn from what we did wrong tonight. We’ll grow, we’ll get better. The opportunity for some young players to step up in this side is a really exciting thing for Australian cricket.”
“It’s Really Disappointing To Be Standing Here Right Now”: Alyssa Healy

Further, Healy, after the game, talked about how well the team played, and standing here at the moment, losing the game is a bit heartbreaking.
She said,
“I think everyone contributed beautifully throughout this tournament. That’s why it’s really disappointing to be standing here right now. We created enough. We created pressure. We created opportunities. We just weren’t able to capitalize on them.”
Further, she added,
“When you’ve seen players my age walk away, it’s a weird experience to watch the next generation go about it. Phoebe was sensational today, set us up beautifully, and went on to make a hundred. It’s been fun to watch her unfold. The next four years leading up to the next World Cup are going to be really exciting.”
