The PCB came in between after the BCB vs. ICC storm, stating that if Bangladesh is shown the exit by the ICC, then they will be boycotting the tournament. Many reports claimed many things, including about the possibility of forfeiting the game against India. Earlier this week, the chairman of PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, confirmed that the decision will be taken by February 2, with the confirmation from the government to let them play all their matches in Sri Lanka.
“Pakistan don’t have the guts”: Ajinkya Rahane
On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane refuses to believe in Pakistan’s threat, saying that the team does not have the courage to boycott such a big tournament like the World Cup.
Rahane said,

“I don’t think they will do it. They don’t have the guts.”
Last year Pakistan Chairman Mohsin Naqvi went back to his country, taking the trophy home even after India won the final against them in the Asia Cup 2025. The Men in Blue refued to take the trophy from him, it was the first time in cricket history that a winning team went back home without a trophy.

If Pakistan backs out of the tournament, then the board could face many consequences, including financial problems, sanctions from the ICC, and likely a ban from the Asia Cup. Tensions rose much more between both countries after the Pahalgam attack, where many innocent lives were lost, and after that, the Indian team refused to play against them in the World Championship of Legends. In the Asia Cup 2025 the atmosphere also was not as good, plenty of things took place on ground between both nations.
