Aakash Chopra On RCB: Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra praised the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for their successful IPL 2026 campaign making them the defending champions. In the final of the IPL 2026 RCB defeated GT in the final by 5 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31, Sunday.
By this win Rajat Patidar became the captain to enter in a elite list of captains to win back to back title after MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma.

With RCB entering the history books of IPL, Chopra stated that how difficult it is to defend a title, with only two teams achieving the feat since the tournament started from 2008.
Aakash Chopra said,
“The first win only gives you the realisation of what you can do. You tried to do one thing for 17 years, and if you achieve that in the 18th year, you feel a dream was fulfilled. If you have to convert that start into an era, you need to win trophies continuously.”
“The seniors always used to say that winning the trophy once is difficult, but defending it is much more difficult, and we have realised that in the 19-year history. Only three teams have been able to do that. They have become the third team now, and the two teams before this have lifted the trophy five times apiece. There was expectation and anticipation, and then to dominate like this, take a bow.”
RCB had a comfortable win in the final by five wickets over Gujarat Titans. The defedning champions team chased down the score of 156 runs in the 18 overs, credit goes to Virat Kohli’s iconic 75 runs off 42 balls.
