Shahid Afridi Slams BCCI, Suryakumar Yadav Over Post-Match Handshake Snub

Former Pakistan cricketer slams Suryakumar Yadav for handshake snub

Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi is quite famous for his bold statements against India for one thing or another; recently, after the India vs. Pakistan clash in the 2025 Asia Cup, he once again trolled the Indian team. He slammed Suryakumar Yadav for not shaking hands with Salman Ali Agha's led team on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium. The things take a different turn when one member from the Indian staff shuts down the gate on their opponent's face, which was a sign to refuse a post-match handshake.

After all these things, when Pakistan coach Mike Hesson came for the press conference, he also stated that he was shocked by India's decision not to shake hands with their side; this was the big reason Salman Ali Agha didn't come for the post-match presentation.

After the Men In Blue's win, Suryakumar Yadav dedicated the win to the Indian Armed Forces, stating that the whole Indian team stands in solidarity with the Pahalgam terror victims.

In a discussion, Shahid Afridi said,

"When the Asia Cup began, social media was filled with the boycott campaigns ahead of the match between India and Pakistan. Considering there was pressure, it is no surprise that the players and the BCCI were told not to shake hands with our team."

Further, Afridi said,

"In my opinion, there was no sportsman spirit. They would once again be shamed in front of the world. I think our stance was bang on. Our PCB chairman has taken the right stand. Overall, it's outstanding."

"I have always said that players should be great ambassadors and not an embarrassment. I don't want to fault the Indian cricketers; they were given orders from up above."

Before the start of the Asia Cup, the Indian captain was trolled on social media for shaking hands with ACC head Naqvi and Pakistan captain Agha during the official press conference. Afridi, pointing at the Indian captain, stated that it is difficult to understand double standards.

He said,

"The same Suryakumar Yadav shook hands with Salman Agha and Mohsin Naqvi at the captain's press conference. Now in front of the crowd, the government was not able to handle the social media pressure. Indian players have now become an embarrassment in front of the world."
