If They Don't Win, There's Something Wrong: Abhishek Nayar On IND vs PAK Clash In Asia Cup 2025

Former Indian cricketer Abhishek Nayar believes that the Indian team are not contenders but everyone's favorite to win the tournament. He stated that things might go wrong for the defending champions if they failed to lift the trophy.

In the first clash of the Asia Cup 2025 with UAE, the Men in Blue beat the opposition team by nine wickets on Wednesday, September 10. The Indian team will be facing Pakistan in their second game of the tournament at the same venue on September 14, Sunday.

During an interaction, Nayar was asked about the Indian team's strength when they will be heading against Pakistan.

He said,

"I won't call them contenders; they are coming after becoming champions. With the kind of squad they have and the way they are playing in this format, this tournament is for them to lose. If they don't win this tournament, there is something that's gone wrong."

Further, he said,

"The squad strength we have and the way our spinners bowled in the last match, I will always believe that if you are bowling well, winning the championship becomes easy. So it's India's tournament to lose."

The next target against India is to win the match against Pakistan and the Asia Cup 2025. Now, it will be interesting to see what the scenario will be in the India-Pakistan clash, as both the teams will be facing each other for the first time after the Pahalgam attack.
