Shivam Dube Credits Morne Morkel & Gautam Gambhir’s Tips For Match-Winning Performance Against UAE

The Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube, who was once criticized for his selection in the Asia Cup 2025, has silenced trollers with his incredible performance in the first clash against UAE. His performance with the bat was never the question, but with the ball he was trolled a bit. In the first match against UAE, he managed to take 3 wickets in just two overs, turning the match to India's side.

Talking about his incredible spell, he mentioned Morne Morkel's contribution to his performance.

He said,

"Morne has been working with me since I came back into the Indian team for the England series. He has given me certain specific advice, and I worked with him. He told me to bowl a line that is slightly outside the off-stump. He also worked with me in developing a slower delivery and tweaked my run-up a bit. The head coach and the skipper had told me that my bowling would have a role to play."

In the India vs. UAE Clash, UAE was able to score only 57 runs, all thanks to the Indian bowling lineup. The score was chased by the Men in Blue in just 4.3 overs.

The 32-year-old, speaking about his performance with the bat, said,

"For the last two months, I have worked a great deal on my fitness. As far as my batting is concerned, I know I have a role to play (as a power hitter) in the middle overs. I know over the years, bowlers targeted me with short balls, and I have worked on increasing my range of shots."

Although the competition against UAE was not much, Dube recalled what advice head coach Gautam Gambhir gave to him and the Indian team.

He said,

"Whenever we play for India, we don't consider any match as a warm-up match. It's about pride to play for the country. Be it against UAE or Pakistan, every game is important for me. Gauti bhai always said this: "Whenever you represent India, it is a chance to do something miraculous."
