The Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane has a special message for Suryakumar Yadav ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 commencing on September 9. Rahane feels that the T20I captain should focus more on batting rather than captaincy, as he should play a key role with his bat in the tournament. In the last T20I India played against England at home, Suryakumar Yadav struggled a lot with his bat, scoring just 28 runs in five T20Is, which included many ducks, raising the doubts on his selection in the Asia Cup.

Meanwhile, he silenced all his trollers with an incredible IPL season, scoring 717 runs and ending the campaign as the second-leading run scorer.

To which Ajinkya Rahane, talking on his YouTube channel, said,

"He didn't have a good series against England but came back to form in the IPL with five fifties and finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament with a healthy strike rate. We all know Surya is a dangerous batter. In this format, he has done really well. But it will be interesting to see how he goes about his batting, especially after the surgery."

Further, he said,

"As a captain, he has been fantastic. He is a proactive captain and led the team really well in the past, but I feel, in this Asia Cup, his batting will be really important."

The last time when he appeared in the 2022 Asia Cup he scored 139 runs in five matches at an average of 34.75 at a strike rate of 163.52 and became the eighth-highest run-scorer. His best score was against Hong Kong, 68*, other than that he failed to produce a big knock.

Now, the big target for the captain, Suryakumar Yadav, is to score some big runs in the tournament and win the Asia Cup 2025.
