Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan is quite a lot in headlines for one or the other thing; first it was for the Rohit Sharma vs. Hardik Pandya controversy, and now it's by the name of MS Dhoni. Pathan's old interview went viral on social media about stating that MS Dhoni selects players who set up hookah for him, and to that statement he has finally broken silence. This remark was made by him years ago, which is now gaining a lot of views on social media all over the world. The left-handed all-rounder was once called India's big fast-bowling all-rounder after Kapil Dev, but regular injuries and limited opportunities in his career ended his career. He last played his international match in 2012 and announced his retirement at the age of just 35 in 2020.

The old clip of Pathan went viral on social media after years, raising the controversy where he stated that then-captain MS Dhoni used to smoke hookah and gave favor to players who did that for him at that time. To which some fans criticized Dhoni for showing bias in team selection, and some trolled Pathan for ruining the image of the former captain.

After all this trolling, Pathan hit out at a fan, jokingly replying by stating he and Dhoni would sit together and do that.

A fan wrote,

"Pathan bhai, woh hookey ka kya hua???"

To which Irfan replied,

"Mein aur @msdhoni sath beth kar pienge)."

Pathan also opens up on the video going viral on social media after almost a decade, stating it as some PR agenda and fan war.

He said,

"Half-decade-old video surfacing Now with a twisted context to the statement. Fan war? PR lobby?"

In that old interview, Pathan spoke about the limited opportunities he got under MSD's captaincy when he was told that the captain was not happy with his bowling. The video grabbed headlines as Pathan also said that Dhoni smoked hookah and gave preference to players who did such things for him.

He said,

"I don't have a habit of setting up hookah in someone's room or talking about this. Everyone knows. Sometimes if you don't speak about it, it's better. A cricketer's job is to perform on the field, and that is what I used to focus on."
