The Indian cricket team's experienced leg-spinner Amit Mishra has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. After a 25-year-long journey, Mishra said goodbye to the game on September 4, Thursday. He said that now it's the time for young players to come forward and take the Indian cricket team to new heights. Mishra's career may not have been very long in terms of statistics, but his googly and leg spin troubled the opposition batsmen many times. He took 76 wickets in 22 Test matches, 64 wickets in 36 ODIs, and 16 wickets in 10 T20 Internationals for India.

His best performance in ODI cricket came against Zimbabwe in 2013, when he bowled brilliantly and took 6 wickets for just 48 runs. This is considered one of the most memorable spells of his career. Amit Mishra's performance in IPL was also worth watching. He is the only bowler in the league so far who has taken a hat trick three times. He achieved this feat for three different franchises in 2008, 2011, and 2013. This record is still registered in his name and is a big part of his identity.

Announcing his retirement, Mishra said, "These 25 years of my life in cricket have been memorable." I am deeply grateful to BCCI, the Haryana Cricket Association, support staff, my teammates, and my family. I am also thankful to the fans whose support and love made this journey special every moment. Cricket has given me countless memories and learnings, which I will always cherish. Amit Mishra's name will always be remembered in Indian cricket as a spinner who proved himself when given the opportunity and left his mark in IPL history. Now that he is leaving the field, fans will always remember him for his googlies and brilliant spells.
