Sachin Tendulkar, the God of Indian cricket, recently spoke about England batsman Joe Root. The England star batter has now come second in the list of batsmen who have scored the most runs in Test cricket. He has scored 13,543 runs so far, and now he is just 2378 runs away from Sachin's world record, which is 15,921 runs. When Sachin was asked in an interview,

"What was your first impression of Joe Root?" Also, he has now crossed 13,000 test runs and is second only to you, and he played his 1st match against you," to which Sachin replied very politely.

Sachin said,

"To have gone past 13000 runs is a remarkable achievement, and he's still going strong. When I saw him for the first time in Nagpur in 2012 during his debut Test, I told my teammates that they were watching the future captain of England. What impressed me most was the way he was able to assess the wicket and how he rotated the strike. I knew at that very moment that he would be a big player."

This answer clearly shows that Sachin saw something special in Joe Root's batting right from the beginning. Joe Root made his debut during the Nagpur Test in 2012, and Sachin had told his teammates that he is the future of England. He really liked the way Root was reading the wickets and rotating the strike.

Sachin believes that Root's journey so far has been fantastic and he is still playing strongly. If he continues to perform like this, then perhaps he can even break Sachin's record.

Apart from this, recently there was news of Cheteshwar Pujara's retirement from international cricket. Pujara played 103 Tests and 5 ODIs for India in his 15-year-long career. He was out of Team India for two years, but when he officially announced his retirement, Sachin Tendulkar also bid him farewell in special words. Sachin wrote for Pujara on the social media platform X.

"Pujara, it was always reassuring to see you walk out at No. 3. You brought calm, courage, and a deep love for Test cricket every time you played. Your solid technique, patience, and composure under pressure have been a pillar for the team."

Pujara has always been known as a classical Test batsman who chose patience and technique over shortcuts. Especially under pressure, Pujara remained steadfast and scored runs by exhausting the bowlers. The most memorable series of his career was the Border-Gavaskar Trophy played against Australia in 2018-19. In that series, he faced 1258 balls and scored 521 runs, which was the highest in that series. He scored his first Test century when India was 19/3. That innings was not only important for India but also proved to be a turning point in the entire series.

Recalling his performance, Sachin said,

"Out of many, the 2018 series win in Australia stands out; it wouldn't have been possible without your incredible resilience and match-winning runs. Congratulations on a wonderful career. Good luck for the next chapter. Enjoy your second innings!"

These words of Sachin clearly show that he considers Pujara not just a player but the foundation of Indian Test cricket. He called him the 'pillar of the team' and praised his patience and courage. On one hand, Sachin recognized Joe Root's hard work and pointed towards the future, while on Pujara's retirement, he emotionally congratulated him. This is what makes Sachin stand apart from others—not only was he a great player himself, but he also wholeheartedly appreciates the hard work and contribution of others.
