Mohammed Siraj Breaks Silence On Leading The Pace Attack Without Jasprit Bumrah

The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 proved to be one of the best for Indian star bowler Mohammed Siraj. The star pacer turned out to be the highest wicket taker in the series between England and India, where he played a crucial role in winning two tests in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. As things turned out to be good for Siraj, it brought something else for Bumrah, who is considered the world's best all-format fast bowler; for him, it was stated that he was picking matches in the name of the workload.

It was also stated that when Bumrah plays, then Siraj comes in his shadows, as many players come under their seniors, but without Bumrah, Siraj turned out to be a threat for the opposition.

If we look at the stats, then Siraj has a bowling average of 31.05 in tests, whereas when Bumrah played, that went to 35. But when he doesn't play, it drops to 25.

Bumrah is among those cricketers whose absence and presence always make headlines. In the Edgbaston Test, Siraj took six wickets in the first innings, and in the Oval Test, he went on to take 9 wickets; five of them came in the second innings.

Now, finally, Siraj broke his silence on his performance without Bumrah's absence and leading the pace attack.

He said,

"When I get an opportunity to shoulder responsibility, even if you look at a mundane series, my performance always grows. Responsibility gives me a different kind of joy and boosts my confidence."

Further, Siraj stated that he wanted to shut the mouths of all the critics who were letting down the Indian team without Bumrah.

He said,

"I told you at Edgbaston that people are talking about me, and it's time to make all that talk stop. I usually am very aware of what I'm doing and do not pay heed to what people are saying because people do not know my struggle. Despite that, I thought it was time to stop such talk because it was getting to be too much. With Jassi Bhai (Jasprit Bumrah) not being there due to his back injury and his workload being managed, I tried my bit to keep the positivity in the bowling unit. Whenever I was talking to my teammates, Akash Deep and all, I was trying to spread the belief that we can do it. We can repeat what we have done already."
