Abhimanyu Easwaran, the Indian star who did not get a chance to shine at all in his cricketing career at an international level, which he is capable of. Recently his father, Ranganathan Easwaran, revealed that Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir has made sure that his son will be getting a chance in the playing XI soon. He once again failed to make his place in the Indian test team during the recently concluded five-match test series against England, as Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan were given chances to bat at No. 3.

However, if we look at the performance of the duo, then they were able to score only one half century in the combined ten innings between them. Recently in an interview, Abhimanyu's father, Ranganathan, revealed what conversation he had with team management and disclosed that Gambhir gave him hope of giving him a long-term role in the team.

In a recent interview he said,

"Gautam Gambhir, when he spoke to my son, assured him, 'See, you're doing the right kind of things; you'll get your turn, you'll get a long run. I'm not the one who will push you out after one or two matches. I'll give you a long rope. That's what my son communicated to me. The entire coaching team assured him that he'll get his due; he'll get his long run. That's the best I can say. My son has been waiting for 4 years. He's put in 23 years of hard work."

Further, he said that Abhimanyu should've gotten the chance in place of Sai Sudharsan, as he has good experience in green wickets.

He said,

"He should have played one down. No ill feelings for Sai Sudharsan. Please understand he's known to me; all of them are known to me. But the question is which place, which means it's one down. Where does he fit in? You tell me 0, 31, 0, 61. They could have tried Abhimanyu, who has played about 30% of the matches on Eden Gardens, which is a green track. He's got experience playing on a green wicket. And the record suggests Abhimanyu is the player who holds on to innings for a long time."

Easwaran's father also said that the management was unfair in Abhimanyu's case, the same treatment was not given to him as to Karun Nair at Number 3.

He said,

"Karun Nair never played 1 down. He's always played 2 down or 3 down for Vidarbha. How does he come into contention of 1 down? Suddenly you'll find players who are playing 4 or 5 numbers; they become top-order batsmen. But my son is a top-order batsman. He can't even move to 3 or 4. He can play only as an opener."

Abhimanyu earned his maiden India call-up in Tests in December 2022 for the Bangladesh tour. However, since his test call-up, almost 15 players have made their test debut, but he has not gotten a chance to make his test debut.

As in the future India is scheduled to play a home test series against the West Indies and South Africa, Abhimanyu will be eager to finally make his test debut.
