MS Dhoni Breaks Silence On Retirement Rumors, Reveals Future Plans With CSK
The legendary cricketer and captain of the Indian cricket team MS Dhoni has remained silent on his future in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for quite a long time. But now he has finally broken his silence on the same, stating what's left for him in the near future in the franchise.
In a recent event earlier this week, the legendary former skipper talked about the bonding he shared with the CSK franchise over the ages. He said,
"Me and CSK, we are together. You know, even for the next 15-20 years (crowd cheers). I hope they don't think I'll be playing for another 15-20 years! But yeah."
He said this with a smile on his face, stating that he will be there with CSK after he hangs up his boots also.
Earlier and still, there are speculations of him stepping back from the IPL after the IPL 2024 edition, but he made an iconic comeback in captaincy in the middle of IPL 2025 after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament due to an elbow injury. In IPL 2025, the five-time IPL champion finished at the bottom of the points table, managing four wins in 14 matches.
Dhoni also teased fans who were speculating about his final season in IPL over a long period of time.
He said,
"It's not about one year or two years. I will always be sitting in a yellow jersey. You'll know whether I'll be playing or not in a while, but yeah, you know yourself."
Further, he said,
"Yes, the last couple of years have not been good for us. We have not been up to the mark. But what is important is for you to see the learnings. Yes, you had a bad season. But what went wrong? And that was the question for us last year also."
RUTURAJ GAIKWAD WILL BE BACK AS CAPTAIN?
The former skipper previously admitted that CSK's batting issues were a concern during the IPL 2025 but even expressed confidence that the comeback of Ruturaj Gaikwad will create a balance next year.
He said,
"Rutu will be coming back. He got injured. But he will be coming back. So, we are quite sorted now."
He also added,
"So, I feel the relationship over the years has grown. It helped me improve as a person. It helped me improve as a cricketer. CSK just happened, and I think it's good for Chennai. So, today it's good for me also."
