Not Many People Have Done That: Gautam Gambhir Lauds Rishabh Pant's Brave Performance Despite Injury
The Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir has all praise for wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant for his mind-blowing effort with the bat in the Manchester Test despite having a fractured foot. In the fourth test, Pant went through an injury on Day 1 and left the pitch in extreme pain. However, he returned to the field on the second day when India was not in a good situation and scored a half century, adding some crucial runs to the total of India's runs, and still had a fighting attitude in him for the team.
Not only this, but he was ready to bat on Day 5 of the Test despite his injury if the team needed him. But his teammates tried their best, due to which he didn't have to return to the field. Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar smashed centuries, while KL Rahul played a crucial role, scoring 90 runs and helping the team to score runs.
To which the Indian head coach praised Pant for his selfless and brave knock in the Manchester Test, stating that the wicketkeeper batter's effort laid the foundation for the team to go forward.
He said,
"Rishabh already—it's been declared that he's out of the series. And one thing I want to say is that the character and the foundation of the team will be built on what Rishabh did for the team and for the country as well."

The Indian head coach also stated that the thing Pant did with a fractured foot is not something many players have done.
He said,
"Any amount of praise is not enough for him, especially batting with a broken foot. Not many people have done that in the past, and he had put his hand up, and that is why I say any amount of praise."
"I can sit here and talk about this for hours and hours. I think the generations to come forward will talk about this. And generations coming forward should talk about it—that there is someone who has batted with a broken foot. And it's unfortunate because of the kind of form he was in."
Meanwhile, BCCI has officially ruled out Pant from the series, so Gambhir wished him a speedy recovery, as he is a crucial member of India's red-ball team.
He said,
"But again, he's an important member of the test side. And I hope he recovers quickly and comes back quickly and tries to deliver a game for us."
