Rishabh Pant Defies Injury, Returns To Bat With Fractured Toe
Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the ongoing five-match Test series against England and was injured with a toe fracture on Day 1 of the Manchester Test. Meanwhile, the latest reports coming out state that he is willing to take painkillers and come out to bat in the second innings of the fourth Test.
The 27-year-old got an injury in the 68th over while he was playing a reverse sweep onto his foot, and after that his foot was seen bleeding and swelling came. The Indian vice-captain looked in immense pain when he was taken out of the field.
Pant was carried out of the field in a golf-cart-like vehicle. He received a quick treatment in the medical room and was immediately taken for scans, and reports revealed it was a toe fracture.
It was stated that Pant won't be travelling with Team India to Old Trafford on Day 2, as he has been asked to rest by the doctors.
According to the recent reports, the Indian team management is considering Pant to bat if his need arises in the game. Meanwhile, the final call will be taken after consulting the medical team. He was batting on 37 runs when the incident took place, going for a reverse sweep on the spell of Chris Woakes but only managing to inside edge it onto his foot.
The recent reports stated that
"The scan report showed a fracture, and he is ruled out for six weeks. The medical team is trying to see if he can come out to bat again by taking a painkiller. He still needs support to walk, though, and chances of his batting look very bleak."
But whatever the reports state, currently Pant entered the field after Shardul Thakur was dismissed on 41. The 27-year-old entered the field with a fractured toe; it just shows what kind of dedication he shows towards his career and game.
