Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi slammed several Indian players for backing out of the match against them in the second edition of the World Championship of Legends, which led to cancellation of game at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Former Indian player Shikhar Dhawan made it official on his social media account, stating that he will not be playing the game, keeping the things in mind of the current 'geopolitical' situation between both the neighbouring countries after the Pahalgam attack.

This situation led to WCL game gets cancel, organisers apoligised for the discomfort to Indian legends.

The former Pakistan skipper lashed out at India for their last minute decision stating that their players held practice sessions before the tournament opener game.

Further he added,

"We've come here to play cricket. If (India) didn't want to play against Pakistan, they should've refused before coming here. But now you've arrived, even held practice sessions, and then suddenly changed everything in a single day."

However, Afridi called for players to unify for sports and reflect the spirit of cricket on the ground.

He said,

"Sports bring people closer, but if politics gets involved in everything, how will we move forward? Until we sit together and discuss issues, nothing will improve - lack of communication only makes things worse. We've come here to play cricket, to have one-on-one interactions and friendly conversations. But sometimes, there's one bad egg that spoils everything for everyone else."

Some media reports states that the main reason behind Indian legends to cancel this matching was Afridi's controversial remarks after the Pahalgam attack.
