ENG vs IND: India Faces Many Setback Before The Manchester Test

Injury Woes Mount for India Ahead of Manchester Test
Published on

Team India has suffered another setback in the England tour, as all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will no longer be part of the team for the remaining matches of this tour. According to the sources, he suffered a knee injury while working out in the gym, and the scan revealed that he has suffered a ligament injury. Due to this, he is now out of the entire England tour.

The news comes at the time when the Manchester Test is just a few days away, which will commence on Wednesday, July 23. The thing did not end here for Team India; the management is already worried about the fitness of pacers Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep. Both the players get injured during practice, and their place in the playing XI is still in doubt.

Nitish Reddy has played two Test matches in this series so far; he did not get a place in the playing XI in the first match played in Leeds. His performance in the second Test at Birmingham (Edgbaston) was quite lackluster. He scored only 1-1 runs in both innings and did not take any wicket.

After this, his game turned out to be slightly better in the third Test at Lord's, where he scored 43 runs in both innings and also took three wickets. However, this performance was still not enough to meet the needs of the team.

Team India did not have a nets session on Sunday. Along with Nitish Reddy, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Jaspreet Bumrah, and Washington Sundar were also not seen in practice. On this day, Team India met the players of Manchester United.

During the meeting, Team India's vice-captain and wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant gifted his signed bat to Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes. At the same time, Mohammad Siraj was seen bowling to United defender Harry Maguire. Reddy was not seen in this meeting also, which made it clear that his health is not good.

Anshul Kamboj has now been included in the team in place of Reddy. He was seen meeting Fernandes along with the rest of the Indian players.

Now talking about the Lord's Test, Team India lost the match after coming very close there. The last wicket was Mohammad Siraj's strange runout, when the ball hit the stumps after falling on the pitch. Ravindra Jadeja remained not out, and India lost by 22 runs.

However, despite the defeat, Jasprit Bumrah's performance was tremendous. He took a total of seven wickets in the match, including five wickets in the first innings.

Now it remains to be seen how Team India deals with these injuries and pressure in the last Test.
