Dilip Vengsarkar Advocates Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav For Manchester Test

Vengsarkar Pushes for Arshdeep, Kuldeep in Manchester Test Lineup

Former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar has come out with some probable changes in the team's squad for the upcoming fourth Test at Old Trafford, which will commence on July 23. He has suggested the inclusion of Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav in the Playing XI, making Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar sit out in the upcoming Test.

Arshdeep Singh has been called for the first time in his career for the red ball cricket and is still waiting for his debut in test cricket. In the series opener at Leeds, Prasidh Krishna was given more preference from the management as the third seamer pairing with Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah.

In the second test, with Bumrah's absence, Akash Deep was given a chance, and he successfully used that chance, due to which he was given preference in the third test. Now questions are being raised on the pacerswork workload; it will be interesting to see if Arshdeep will be given a chance or not.

If talking about Kuldeep Yadav, he has not been given a chance in the ongoing series yet. Washington Sundar was given a chance for death as he comes with some batting too in the squad.

To this former player, Dilip Vengsarkar, India should make some changes in the bowling lineup. He said,

"I would drop Nitish Reddy and perhaps one more player to make room for Arshdeep. I think Siraj and Bumrah should keep their places, but Reddy could make way. Kuldeep Yadav could also replace someone like Washington Sundar. You need five bowlers in a Test match to win it. If your six batters can't put up a good total, the bowlers need to take responsibility. You can't win a test match with part-time bowlers."

Further, he said,

"I would pick Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav. Arshdeep is a good left-arm bowler who can move the ball in the air and off the wicket, which is crucial in English conditions. He can also reverse swing the ball, which is important. I have seen him bowl."

The Indian team did not have any good records at Old Trafford when it comes to red-ball cricket. Now it will be interesting to see if they can make the historic win at Manchester the same as they did in Edgbaston or not.
