Sourav Ganguly Criticizes India's Top Order After Lord's Test Defeat, Praises Ravindra Jadeja
Despite having a lethal top order, team India lost the third test at Lord's, in which they had to score only 193 runs. The visiting team's batting lineup fell apart like cards in the second inning, and they had to face defeat by 22 runs. Ravindra Jadeja was not out on 61 runs, and KL Rahul made 39 runs; apart from them, no other batsman could score more than 20 runs in the second innings, due to which Indian fans and audiences were very disappointed.
Recently, on Tuesday, at an event, former Indian cricketer and ex-BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly seemed disappointed with the performance of the Indian team at the Lord's Test. He said that the team should have reached at least 190 runs.
He said,
"I am a little disappointed. The way India batted in this series, it should have reached 190 runs. When you saw Jadeja struggling and scoring runs, the level of batting in this team was very good, and he would be more disappointed than me because it was a good opportunity to go 2-1 ahead in the series against England. I am sure he would be disappointed not to reach 190 runs, especially considering the level of batting present in that dressing room."
Further, he said,
"If there was a little fight from the top, this match would have been India's."
Praising Jadeja, Ganguly called him a special all-rounder player. He said,
"Jadeja is exceptional; as long as his batting and performance continue like this, he will keep playing for India. He has been on the team for a long time. He has played about 80 Test matches and more than 200 ODI matches. You can see him batting, bowling, and fielding. He is a special player, and with the experience of the last few years, his batting has really improved. He is a special player and is an important part of this team."
Team India had a very good chance to move ahead in the series by winning the Lord's Test, but it slipped out of their hands. In the end, the way Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Siraj saved the team from losing badly was exceptional.
Now Shubman Gill & Co. have 2 tests left, and they will try their best to win the remaining 2 tests and make their name in the series. It is to be noted that the fourth test will be played in Manchester from 23 July.
