R Ashwin's Father Predicted Mohammed Siraj's Heroics In Lord's Test
The third Test between India and England was played at Lord's, and Shubman Gill & Co. faced a heartbreaking loss of just 22 runs at the end of Day 5. Mohammed Siraj was one of the highlights of the Lord's Test, playing very calmly till the end and not going for any aggressive shots. He looked really patient and mentally strong to stand till the end and give Ravindra Jadeja a helping hand from the other corner. But at the end, destiny had some different plans for Team India. It was quite tragic from their point of view that Siraj's innings ended not because of a poor shot but because of the ball going back onto the stumps due to Lord's slope even after he did the right defense from the middle of his bat.
Siraj comes to bat when India still needed 46 runs with just one wicket left in hand. He added 23 runs with Jadeja and made everyone believe that they could still win the Lord's Test.
This is what former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin's father was assured of, just like every Indian. Ashwin's father believed that Siraj would finish the game with three sixes, and Ashwin had to remind his father to stop joking because of the way the England bowlers were bowling.
Ashwin said,
"Ben Stokes bowled an unbelievable spell. I was discussing this with my father. He was assured that Siraj would finish it by smashing three sixes. I was asking him to cut down on the jokes. Looking at Ben Stokes, he started talking about a bowler from his league games who used to bowl from both ends."
Further, he stated,
"In both spells of 9.2 and 10 overs, he was bowling at 132-140 kph. At one end, you had Jadeja, standing like a fortress, stitching India's resistance, and on the other, you had Stokes doing the same for England."
With England winning the third Test at Lord's, they are leading the series by 2-1. The fourth Test will kick off on 23 July at Manchester.
