Yograj Singh Criticizes India's Fielding After KL Rahul's Costly Drop Of Jamie Smith
Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh definitely makes headlines day after day for some reason or the other. This is why he made the headlines critizing India's fielding on day 2 of the third test at the Lords. Ex cricketer and Yuvraj Singh's father said that India has good batting and bowling line-ups, but they cannot afford to drop catches, they need to pay more attention to fielding.
India's opening batsman Rahul dropped a catch at second slip on the sitter during Mohammed Siraj's spell when England's wicketkeeper Jamie Smith was playing on 9 runs. We have seen in this series how well Jamie Smith bats. When Smith got a chance, he scored 51 runs which helped England reach 387 in the first innings.
When he was asked about this, he said,
"I have told you many times to catch the catches. Apart from that, our bowling is very good, very good. And we have to tighten our fielding too. We have to catch the catches, otherwise you will not be able to stay there."
After this, he gives the example of his sons Yuvraj Singh and Mohammed Kaif and how they both brought about a huge change in India's fielding in the start of the 21st century.
He said,
"When Yuvraj and Kaif came into the Indian team, they completely changed the picture. Looking at them, it seemed that our fielding was very good. And we became world champions because our fielding was very good. We even caught catches that shouldn't have been taken."
