Aamir Khan Blames Javed Miandad's Six For Ruining His Wedding Day
The relationship between Cricket and Bollywood is quite special in many ways. There are many examples of this, like Mak Patudi marrying Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore, Virat Kohli marrying Anushka Sharma, and KL Rahul marrying Athiya Shetty, and this list does not end here; it is a very long list. Not only this, some Bollywood celebrities also own cricket teams, like Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, and they also come to attend matches in the stadium. Aamir Khan is the biggest example of this; he is such a personality who was present in the Wankhede Stadium when Sachin Tendulkar retired from cricket in 2013 and at the 2011 ODI World Cup when the Indian team won the title under MS Dhoni's captaincy.
This superstar cricket connection does not end here. In a recent interview, Aamir Khan revealed that when he was getting married to Reena Dutta on April 18, 1986, on that day Pakistan's great cricketer Javed Miandad had hit a six on the last ball against India in the final of the Austral-Asia Cup.
It is to be noted that Aamir and Reena, who are now divorced, had secretly married and did not tell their parents about this. Talking about this, he said,
"This was the same day when Javed Miandad gave Pakistan a win over India by hitting a six on the last ball in Sharjah. We got married on the same day. We were very tense on returning home, but no one asked us anything because everyone was watching the match."
Further, he said,
"I was happy that the day I got married, India was winning the match. The match took place against Pakistan. But then Miandad hit a six, and we lost."
Aamir Khan further said that he met Miandad after many years and told him about this situation.
He said,
"Many years later, I met Javed Miandad on a flight. I told him, 'Javed bhai, you did not do well. You ruined my marriage. That day you hit a six, and I went into depression.'"
Javed Miandad is considered one of the legendary batsmen of Pakistan. He has played a total of 124 test matches in which he scored 8832 runs with an average of 52.57, while in ODIs he has played a total of 233 matches, scoring 7381 runs at an average of 41.70.
