Yashasvi Jaiswal Returns To Mumbai Cricket For Upcoming Season
Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young opener of the Indian Test team, will now play for Mumbai again in domestic cricket. Earlier, he had demanded a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) so that he could play for another state. This news came in April, and it was believed that Yashasvi was going to join the Goa team and perhaps even become the captain. But in May, he wrote a new letter to the MCA and requested to withdraw his NOC demand.
The MCA approved Yashasvi's demand for withdrawal of NOC in its meeting held on Monday. Now he will again participate in domestic tournaments on behalf of Mumbai. MCA President Ajinkya Naik said,
"Yashasvi has always been an important part of Mumbai cricket. We have accepted his demand for withdrawal of NOC, and now he will be available for Mumbai in the upcoming domestic season."
Yashasvi in his letter on May wrote,
"I request you to withdraw the NOC given to me, as my plan to go to Goa has been postponed for the time being due to some family reasons. I have not given this NOC to either BCCI or Goa Cricket Association. Therefore, please allow me to play for Mumbai again this season."
While Yashasvi decided to return to Mumbai, on the other hand, another Mumbai cricketer, Prithvi Shaw, had recently sought permission from MCA to play for another state, which was accepted by MCA. Along with this, MCA has also announced that Mumbai's famous monsoon cricket tournament, the 'Dr. HD Kang League,' will start on July 20 this time. This tournament has been the identity of Mumbai cricket for years, and it is organized every year during the rainy season.
MCA secretary Abhay Hadap said,
"Kang League is not just a tournament but a tradition of Mumbai cricket. We are going to start its old format again and hope that this time too we will get to see great cricket."
Apart from this, MCA has taken another big step. Now a new committee will be formed that will promote cricket for physically disabled (Divyang) players. The purpose of this decision is to give opportunities to players of every category so that they can also showcase their game. In this way, with the decision of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mumbai has once again got a strong batsman, and the fans will also be happy to see him again in their home team.
