WI vs AUS: Pat Cummins Creates History, Breaks Richie Benaud's 63-Year Old Test Record

Australia's captain Pat Cummins has once again registered his name in the history books after breaking Richie Benaud's 63-year old test record. All this took place in the first test of the three-match series against West Indies, Cummins broke the record of the legendary all-rounder. In the first test it was seen that in Barbados both the teams had dominance in bowling.

In the last few years, Cummins has taken Australia to different heights under his captaincy. If we take a look at last two years, then he has two ICC titles to his name. The 2023 ODI World Cup and World Test Championship Mace 2023 are the two most important victories, not only this now he is also successful in retaining Australia's Ashes series and winning the Border-Gavaskar series at home.

In the first test against West Indies, Cummins made a very big record in test cricket. He has made the record of taking the most wickets by an Australian player as a captain in test cricket. He made this record in his name by dismissing his opposite number player Roston Chase in the first innings on the second day of the match.

Before the first test, Cummins had 137 wickets as a test captain and was just one wicket away to equal Benaud's record. He had reached equal to Benaud's record on day 1 after dismissing Keacy Carty, but in day 2 he went ahead of Benaud and now is the topper of Australia captains with most wickets.

Cummins is now the second highest wicket taking captain in test cricket. He has 139 wickets to his name as a skipper and there is still one player ahead of him and that is Imran Khan who has 187 wickets to his name.

The Australian captain is just a few wickets away and will soon be reaching new heights in upcoming years.
