Sanjiv Goenka Lauds Rishabh Pant's Historic Feat & KL Rahul's Century
The first test of India and England has come to a thrilling turn where we saw Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul both score centuries on Day 4 of the game, and this is the 2nd consecutive century of vice-captain Rishabh Pant in the test. With that, the wicketkeeper batter also created history by smashing a century in the second innings and became the second wicketkeeper to score two consecutive centuries in test cricket.
If we talk about the performance of both the players, then in the first innings Rahul could not score his half century, but that innings of 42 runs was also very crucial from a game point of view, and in the second innings he scored 137 runs off 247 balls.
In IPL 2025, Rishabh Pant faced a lot of criticism for his poor show, but now he's getting praise from the same people who once trolled him a few months back. When his team played the last match in IPL, he made his comeback against RCB, smashed a century, and now, in the England tour, he is continuing with the same form. In the first innings, Rishabh played an innings of 134 runs where he hit 12 fours and 6 fours, while in the second innings, Pant played a wonderful innings of 118 runs where he hit 15 fours and 3 fours.
Meanwhile, Rahul's ex-IPL team owner and Rishabh Pant's current team owner, Sanjiv Goenka, praised both the Indian players.
Talking about Pant, Goenka said,
"Two good centuries one after the other. Aggressive, courageous, brilliant. Only the second wicketkeeper in history to score centuries in both innings of a Test."
The LSG owner also praised Rahul yesterday on his ninth Test century. He said,
"Congratulations to Rahul for his century yesterday."
Team India's difficulties are still not over because day 5 is still left, and we saw how after Rishabh and Rahul were out, the whole team fell like cards. Although India is still leading by 350 runs, it will not be easy for them to defend it, but their full effort will be to get England's dangerous batsmen out quickly to put pressure on them and make their name in the first test.
