BCCI Selectors Wanted MS Dhoni Sacked: Yograj Singh Accuses BCCI For Ruining Cricketer's Careers
Former Indian player Yograj Singh and father of the legendary cricketer Yuvraj Singh once again made into the headlines. In a recent interview, he alleged that the BCCI selection committee ruined the careers of 7 cricketers after winning the 2011 ODI World Cup and the thing did not end there, they also tried their best to remove MS Dhoni later.
Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, India won the ODI World Cup in 2011 after 28 years, his team achieved a wonderful victory by defeating Sri Lanka in the final at the Wankhede Stadium. But after this tournament the careers of many cricketers also came to an end, out of which only Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and Dhoni himself were left who played the ODI World Cup in 2015.
Yograj Singh blamed the 2011 selection committee for their decisions that they moved on from the 2011 World Cup winning team so soon due to which the careers of those players were ruined. These include the names of India's present head coach Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh.
Yograj Singh said,
"BCCI selectors ruined these boys without any reason. Boys like Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Mohammad Kaif, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid. You let them go after 2011 and ruined the team after the World Cup. Careers of 7 players were ruined. That is why we are struggling."
Yograj Singh also talked about the events of 2012 when there was an attempt to sack former selector Mohinder Amarnath Dhoni after the whitewash in England and Australia.
He said,
"When MS Dhoni was the captain, we lost 5 series and he was told that Mohinder Amarnath will be made the captain in his place, but this is not the way to do it."
But this decision was changed by BCCI president N Srinivasan and after that MS Dhoni took India to different heights under his captaincy.
