Finn Allen Sets New T20 Record Of Sixes In MLC 2025 Opener Against Washington Freedom
The Major Cricket League (MLC) 2025 started on 12th June, and this tournament has already gotten off to a wonderful start. Its first match was played between the Francisco Unicorns and the Washington Freedom, which was played in Oakland Coliseum stadium. Washington Freedom's team had won the toss and opted to bowl, but it didn't turn out to be in their favor.
In the very first match itself, there was such a storm, which has completely changed the book records of T20 cricket. The one we are talking about is New Zealand's explosive batsman Finn Allen, who set the stage on fire with his batting in the first match of the tournament. Allen hit the most sixes in yesterday's T20 innings while playing against Washington Freedom for San Francisco. He scored 150 runs in just 49 balls by hitting his 19th six, which is the fastest 150 runs in T20 cricket. Allen broke the record of 18 sixes of Chris Gayle and Estonia's Sahil Chauhan and created a new world record for sixes in men's T20 innings.
MOST T20 SIXES IN AN INNINGS
Finn Allen - 19 sixes (San Francisco Unicorns vs. Washington Freedom), 2025
Chris Gayle - 18 sixes (Rangpur Riders vs. Dynamites), 2017
Sahil Chauhan - 18 sixes (Estonia vs. Cyprus), 2024
Batting first in the tournament after losing the toss, Allen smashed 40 runs off 14 balls in the powerplay, smashing five sixes. The Kiwi opener smashed the Washington Freedom bowlers with his hard-hitting batting, smashing three sixes in an over as he scored his fourth T20 century in just 34 balls, the fastest MLC century by a New Zealand player. It did not stop there only; in the 17th over, he smashed bowlers with five more sixes. In last year's final, runner-up team Unicorns finished with 269 runs with the loss of five wickets on the board against the reigning champions, making the highest ever men's T20 total in the United States.
