Pat Cummins Anticipates Unique WTC Final 2025 Challenge With Proteas
The most awaited WTC final 2025 between South Africa and Australia is around the corner. Ahead of the clash, Australia's skipper Pat Cummins is all excited to play an ICC final against a team other than India. Without any doubt, one can say India and Australia are one of the best teams in the world and now have become one of the best rivalries we will be seeing in the near future. In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year, Pat Cummins and co. spoiled India's way of making it to the WTC final 2025. However, Temba Bavuma's team came out of the box and even became the first team to qualify for the finals.
The WTC final will begin from June 11 to 15 at Lord's London, and there's no doubt that Australia has emerged to be the favorite when it comes to the finals. But Cummins is not in a mood to take the Proteas lightly at all.
In an interview, Cummins said,
"In some ways you expect India to be around. England has been quite strong at home, and New Zealand always seems to get to the finals. But the same case could be made for South Africa in ICC events."
"We just don't see a lot of them in Test cricket, but it's nice and different from an Australia-India final."
Further, Cummins stated that they haven't played against them much, and spinner Keshav Maharaj can turn out to be a challenge in front of them in the final.
"It's hard to say because there are so many unknowns. We haven't played them much, but you've got to be really well balanced to make the final."
"Their bowling has always stood out, and it's no different now. Keshav Maharaj is a really solid spinner, and they've always got plenty of quick bowlers who pose a challenge."
Meanwhile, Keshav Maharaj said that he will be following in the footsteps of Graeme Smith. He said,
"I remember watching that when they lifted the mace. We know that apart from doing it for us, we want to honor the legends of the past, and hopefully we will one day be seen in the same caliber and light to win such a coveted title and hold the Test mace."
