Cricket Australia Plans Grand Farewell for Virat and Rohit later this year
Cricket Australia (CA) CEO Todd Greenberg has said that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be given a grand farewell if they play ODIs in Australia for the last time this year. Both veteran players have already retired from Tests and T20 Internationals, and are now playing for Team India only in ODIs.
India will tour Australia in October this year to play three ODIs in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney from October 19 to 25. This will be followed by five T20 matches from 29 October to 8 November. During this time, there will also be an Ashes series in Australia and the women's Indian team will also tour there after the Women's Premier League 2026.
Greenberg said that different marketing plans have been created in each city to make this season special. Especially in those places where Indian women and men teams will play, efforts will be made to give a memorable experience to the fans.
CA has recorded record-breaking ticket sales in its ticket pre-sale window. Greenberg believes that the stadiums will be packed to watch the matches between India and Australia, just like it happened during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
He said, "If this is indeed Virat and Rohit's last ODI tour in Australia, then we want their farewell to be special, because the contribution they have made to international cricket is huge. ”
India and Australia also scheduled to play 'A' Tour later this year, Greenberg also admitted that even though the international schedule is very busy, the 'A' Tour is important because it prepares players to play in different conditions and later perform for their national team.
