Mumbai Indians secured a crucial victory over Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in the IPL 2025 eliminator match, thanks to stellar performances by Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya. Rohit’s impressive innings and Pandya's explosive finish helped MI post a formidable total of 228/5, which proved too much for GT despite Sai Sudharsan's valiant effort.

The 72nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first, and a tremendous half-century from Rohit Sharma and an extraordinary finish from Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma powered the Indians to a massive score of 228/5 in the 20-over game in the second innings against the Gujarat Titans in the eliminator match.

Gujarat Titans needed 229 scores to win the match to secure their position in Qualifier 2 against Punjab Kings (PBKS), who lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the last match. The team winning today's match between GT and MI will be playing the next match on June 1 against PBKS and securing their place in the finals that will be taking place on June 3 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium.

Talking about MI's batting, it started with a bang from the openers Rohit Sharma and Jonny Bairstow. Bairstow didn't leave a single chance to smash GT bowlers, smashing three sixes and a four to Prasidh Krishna, which brought the team's score to 55 in just 3.5 overs. In the last over of the powerplay, Rohit smashed Sai Kishore for two fours and a six. In the powerplay, MI was at 79/0, with Bairstow (44*) and Rohit (33*) unbeaten.
