Rishabh Pant Slams Fake News On LSG Exit, Calls for Responsible Reporting

Pant Denounces LSG Exit Rumors, Urges Media Integrity

Summary

Rishabh Pant termed the fake news on social media as false and said that LSG is not releasing them. Pant posted on X and said that fake news increases views, but it would be more correct to give real information. Pant was bought for ₹27 crore last year, but his performance this season was disappointing.

Rishabh Pant, the most expensive player in IPL history, did not perform as per the expectations and the amount he was bought for in IPL 2025 by Lucknow Super Giants. Meanwhile, a report came out stating that LSG could release Pant from the team before the next season, i.e., 2026. This report created a lot of stir on social media, but Pant himself came forward and described this news as completely false.

Just hours before the match, when LSG was going to take on Gujarat Titans, Pant put out a post on X (earlier Twitter) saying that people only want to garner views from such fake news. He wrote,

"I understand that fake news gets more views, but it would be better to give a little understanding and real information." Please post something thoughtful on social media.”

Pant was bought by LSG for a whopping amount of ₹27 crore in the mega auction held in Jeddah last year, making him the most expensive IPL player ever. But his performance this season has been quite poor. He has scored just 135 runs in 11 innings, including a single half-century. He has an average of 12.27 and a strike rate of 100.

Due to this disappointing performance, the team has failed to reach the playoffs and is seventh in the points table. Many questions are now being raised on Pant, who started captaincy.

Not only this, but this weak form of Pant can also affect his return to the T20I team. He last played a T20I for India in July 2024. However, his place in the Test team is still considered strong and he is among the possible names for captaincy or vice-captaincy.

Pant described the whole matter as a false rumor and said that everything is fine between him and the franchise.
