Gill, Sudharsan, Buttler Lead Gujarat Titans To 38-Run Victory Over SRH
Gujarat Titans secured a commanding 38-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025 match 51, thanks to stellar performances from Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler. GT posted a formidable 224/6, with SRH falling short at 186/6. GT's bowlers, led by Prasidh Krishna, delivered crucial wickets, propelling the team to the 2nd spot on the points table.
Match number 51 of IPL 2025 took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where Gujarat Titans faced off against Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Explosive start by GT openers
Gujarat Titans got off to a flying start with captain Shubman Gill and young star Sai Sudharsan opening the innings. The duo added a blistering 87-run partnership in just 6.5 overs. GT hammered 82 runs in the powerplay. Sai Sudharsan was eventually dismissed by young leggie Zeeshan Ansari after a brilliant knock of 48 off 23 balls, laced with 9 boundaries.
Captain Gill played a superb innings, scoring 76 off just 38 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes. Following him, Jos Buttler walked in and continued the momentum, smashing 64 runs off 37 deliveries, including 3 fours and 4 sixes. Washington Sundar contributed a steady 21 off 16 balls, while Shahrukh Khan chipped in with 6 runs off just 2 deliveries. GT finished their innings at a towering 224/6 in 20 overs.
SRH bowlers struggle again
Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of the bowlers for Hyderabad, picking up 3 wickets in the final over and ending with figures of 4-0-35-3. Pat Cummins took 1 wicket for 40 runs in his 4 overs, while Zeeshan Ansari also claimed a wicket but couldn’t control the flow of runs.
SRH falter in big chase
Chasing a huge target, SRH lost Travis Head early as he scored 20 off 16 balls. Abhishek Sharma played a brilliant knock of 74 runs off 41 balls, hitting 4 fours and 6 sixes, but lacked support from the other end. Ishan Kishan once again failed in the tournament, making only 13, while Heinrich Klaasen managed to score 23 runs before falling to the in-form Prasidh Krishna. Aniket Verma (3) and Kamindu Mendis (0) couldn’t handle the pressure.
In the end, 65 runs were needed off the final 2 overs, which proved too much despite efforts from Nitish Reddy (21 off 10) and Cummins (19 off 10). SRH finished at 186/6 and lost the game by 38 runs.
GT bowlers deliver
Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took 2 wickets each, with Krishna continuing his fantastic season and holding onto the Purple Cap. Gerald Coetzee and Ishant Sharma claimed one wicket apiece.
With this win, Gujarat Titans moved up to 2nd spot on the points table with 7 wins from 10 matches, while SRH suffered their 7th defeat of the season and remain at the bottom.
